Clara Linda Gomes

Clara Linda Gomes, 68, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, surrounded by the love that she had given so freely throughout her life. She was born on January 4, 1958, to the late John and Lillian Gomes.

Clara was a graduate of Johnson & Wales University, where she studied culinary arts and discovered a lifelong love of cooking. She found joy in preparing meals and sharing them with the people she cared about. For Clara, cooking was more than simply preparing food—it was one of the ways she expressed her love.

Clara had a vibrant and unforgettable personality. She was outgoing, full of life, and never afraid to let her voice be heard. Her laughter, her stories, and her spirited nature brought warmth and energy to those around her. She enjoyed many things in life, including gaming and reading, with a particular fondness for the novels of Stephen King. She also treasured spending time at Pulaski Park and Oakland Beach, enjoying the places that brought her happiness and peace.

Clara is the loving mother to her only child, Nicole Cruz, and a devoted grandmother to Havel Cruz-Gomes and his wife, Vanessa Gomes, Alexander Cruz, Lilliana Cruz, and Namia Cruz. She was especially blessed to be a great-grandmother to four precious children: Hazazel Gomes, Kalel Gomes, Xyana Gomes, and Azrael Gomes. It was especially meaningful that Azrael was born on Clara's birthday, January 4, a beautiful connection that her family will always hold close to their hearts.

Clara is also survived by her two brothers, her older brother John Gomes and her younger brother Peter Gomes.

Those who knew and loved Clara will remember a woman who lived with her whole heart. She will be remembered for her love of cooking, her enjoyment of a good book or game, her favorite places, and most of all, for the love she had for her family. Her presence was unique and unmistakable, and the memories she created with those she loved will remain a treasured part of their lives.

Though she is no longer with us, Clara's love will continue through her daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, and all those whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of her family.
