Elisha G. Ellis, 86, a lifelong resident of East Greenwich, passed peacefully at home on Monday, October 26, surrounded by his loving family. Born in a time when babies were born at home, he was the second of four brothers and a lifelong East Greenwich resident. He attended East Greenwich schools, graduating with the class of 1958. After graduation, he worked at Electric Boat in Groton, CT. In 1961, he joined the U.S. Navy and after basic training, he was stationed at NAS Quonset Point. Following his enlistment in the Navy, he worked at the Naval Air Rework Facility (NARF) at Quonset Pt and after the Navy left in 1972, he worked again for Electric Boat, this time at their Quonset Point facilities.

He had a fine writing hand and could have earned his living as a calligrapher. Elisha was also the family historian able to recall names and dates and listing family members and relatives both past and present from memory.
Elisha married and purchased his grandfather’s home on the waterfront where he and his wife raised their four children and lived out the remainder of their days. Elisha’s life was committed to his children, even letting them have a pony when they were young. In later years, he was a devoted grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was the son of the late George B. and Florence L. (Mitchell) Ellis. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary-Rose and his daughter Rebecca R. Ellis and his brothers Gary and George.
He is survived by his brother William F. Ellis, his daughters, Jennie F. Senecal, Melissa F. (Rob) Flanders, and his son Elisha L.
