Obituary

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of George Lucian Langlais, a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and friend. George passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026, at the age of 86. George was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Nancy Langlais and the son of the late Lucien and Annette (Verville) Langlais.

George was born in Providence, Rhode Island, on January 13, 1940. A hardworking and determined man, George began his career working for the City of Providence after joining the union. He later worked as a pipefitter for Grinnell, but George's true love was people. He discovered a passion for the restaurant and bar business and eventually became the proud owner of Talk of the Town (TOTT) in downtown Providence. For George, TOTT was much more than a business—it was a place where friendships were made and stories were shared. He made friends there and was known by so many who will remember him fondly. George owned and operated TOTT until his retirement, leaving behind not only a successful business, but a lifetime of memories and friendships that meant so much to him.

George had a passion for cars and loved to attend car shows, especially in Lake George, which was one of his favorite places to visit. He loved spending time with family and friends.

George leaves behind his son, David Langlais and his wife, JoAnn; his daughter, Susan Chisholm; his four grandchildren, Stephen, Kristofer, Joseph, and Nicholas; and his four great-grandchildren, Noah, Olivia, Serena, and Maya. He is also survived by his brother, Ron Langlais and his wife, Eileen, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

George was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Gloria Davis, who passed away recently. We find comfort in knowing that George and Gloria are now together again, reunited with those they loved who went before them.
