Obituary

Mary Carolyn Field - died on May 25th, 2026, and was born on October 6, 1942 to Charles W. O'Conor and Margaret (Ford) O'Conor.

Carolyn Field lived a wonderful life and was blessed to have amazing friends and family alongside her. She had a smile that lit up a room and always had a story to tell about her pride in her family and joyful friendships that she made along her journey.

She was a graduate of Newton College of the Sacred Hearts with a degree in Early Childhood Education and taught pre-school. Carolyn met Edward J. Field at a wedding, and they married on July 30th, 1966, in Belmont, Massachusetts and lived in Cambridge while Edward was at Harvard Business School. She and Edward settled in Winchester, Massachusetts for much of the 1970's. Carolyn was active in Winchester and made many friends that remain friends to this day. She and Ed moved to East Greenwich in 1979 where she lived for 47 years. She was blessed with many friends in EG and the surrounding communities and built a successful residential Real Estate career that spanned 40 years.

Ed and Carolyn were married for 57 years until Ed passed in September of 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Harvey O'Conor. She is survived by her sister Pat Mitchell, her brother Paul O'Conor, her sons Charlie, Brian, and daughter Allison. She is also survived by her four wonderful grandchildren - Isabella, Juliette, Conor and Alexandra as well as daughters in law Lauren Field and Whitney Field. She is also survived by her 14 wonderful nieces and nephews.

She believed that everyone, including and especially her family, should be treated with the respect of an important guest. She regularly made it clear how proud she was of her family. She remembered the little things about people, and while being outspoken and strong minded - she felt strongly about being an even better listener.

She embodied style and grace, loving a fabulous outfit, particularly when it was a difficult find. She remains known for her positive outlook, insisting on seeing the way through with possibility on her mind. She played bridge with her friends every Wednesday and won more than she lost. She was learning Mahjong and won 3 of her first 5 tournaments. Carolyn loved to entertain and was an excellent cook. She was a voracious reader of History and Mystery novels. She was kind and thoughtful and put others first throughout her wonderful life. She played golf, tennis, cards and was about as competitive as they come. In addition to sports that she played, Carolyn was an enormous Tom Brady and Patriots fan!

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 1, 2026 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St., East Greenwich. Burial will be in the RI Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours are omitted. www.hillskeffington.com
