Nancy M. Gattuso

Nancy Gattuso (69) died after a long battle with cancer on March 23, 2026. Her parents, Albert and Mary Petroski, and her husband Peter have pre-deceased her.

Born in Nanticoke, PA in August 1956. She attended Nanticoke area schools, Pittston Hospital School of Nursing, and Chamberlain University.

She worked at Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre and Geisinger Hospital, where she retired in 2021, then moved to Rhode Island to be near her family.

As her parents grew older, she took care of their physical and mental needs. She was a certified critical care nurse for 29 years and while at Geisinger she opened and staffed three successful nursing units. She always spoke passionately about her career and her staff who demonstrated excellence in the patient experience. She was presented with the Leadership in Nursing award during her career.

She particularly enjoyed the beach and the casinos and loved cats.

Survived by her brother Frank Petroski (Carol) in East Greenwich, RI, brother Michael Petroski in Vienna, VA, niece Clare Petroski and great niece Francesca in Cranston, RI, niece Catherine Petroski in Pawtucket, RI, nephew Mark Petroski (Annika) in Conshohocken, PA and nephew Jeffrey Petroski (Jen) in Pawtucket, RI.

Surviving husband‘s family are sister-in-law Gail (Kyle) and niece Kylie, Denton, TX , sister-in-law, Tina, nephews, Paul Junior, and Kyle (Paige), great nephew DJ, nieces Stacey and Melissa all of Pittston, PA.

Her father-in-law Peter, mother-in-law Ruth, sister-in-law Linda and brother-in-law Paul are deceased.

She wishes to especially thank. her sister-in-law Carol for her help during the past years. She also wishes to acknowledge the staff at the Infusion Center at Kent hospital for their compassion and caring as well as all of her physicians, and staff at Brentwood by the Bay.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Saint Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Rd, Warwick, RI, immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Entombment will be on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 11:30 am in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wilkes- Barre, PA. In lieu of flowers donations in Nancy’s memory may be made to Saint Judes Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org.
