Early in the morning of Saturday, November 5th, Albert W. Beaton III passed into God's hands from the loving embrace of his family at the age of 78.
Son of the late Doris Forsythe and Albert W. Beaton II of Providence, RI, Albert married the love of his life, Catherine (Kit) Costello in the spring of 1968. Together, they raised two children and traveled the world with the US Army for 29 years before retiring to Tampa, FL. He was the rock of the family, a devoted father and protective papa bear until the end.
After retiring from a distinguished 29-year career in the US Army, Albert went on to teach school for the next ten years in Providence, RI and Tampa, FL before finally retiring to spend more time with his wife and grandchildren. After losing his beloved wife in 2015, he continued the traditions that they built together, having "Poppy Camp" every summer in Matunuck and making sure to visit and stay a part of everyone's lives.
He loved to read, watch the Red Sox and root for the Detroit Lions, even knowing they wouldn’t win. Al was always there, never the center of attention, often just sitting and observing, but always quick with a funny comment or a joke. While he loved a spirited debate, he was never one to complain, even after a stroke put him in a wheelchair in 2019, he was always thankful for what God had given him, most of all he was grateful for his family and time that he had with them.
Albert is survived by daughter Nicole Beaton of Kansas City, MO, son Albert (Chip) Beaton, of Blandon, PA, seven grandchildren: Piper, Rowan, Fiona, Kira, Mitch, Bryce, and Kieran and great-granddaughter Luna Ray.
Visitation Friday, December 2nd from 8:00-9:15am in the J.F. Skeffington Funeral Home and Cremations, 925 Chalkstone Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian burial in St Pius Church, Eaton Street, Providence at 9:30am followed by burial in RI Veterans Cemetery Exeter with full Military Honors
