Andrew Frank Rockett, age 51, of Plymouth, MA and formerly of East Greenwich, RI, died October 10th, at his home, peacefully and in the presence of family.
Andy was a graduate of Bishop Hendricken High School and Tufts University. He played football for both, and at Tufts particularly excelled as a repeat NCAA champion hammer thrower. He also served as Captain of the mens’ track team and President of the Inter-Greek Council. After college he joined Coldwell Banker Commercial. An extraordinarily talented and charismatic businessman, Andy soon ventured into numerous successful real estate partnerships, initially Great Island Development Group and KGI Properties, as well as later solo ventures Rockett Real Estate Investments and Rockett Solar. He accomplished numerous and varied commercial real estate development projects throughout New England and New York.
Andy was a longtime resident of Duxbury, MA, a member of the Duxbury Yacht Club and an avid supporter of his childrens’ athletic pursuits. He enjoyed boating on the bay, tubing, golf, music and the good company of his dogs. His family and friends take comfort in the lasting memory of Andy’s larger than life personality, his sense of humor and generous spirit.
He is survived by his parents Thomas and Sarah Rockett of East Greenwich, RI; his children Ryan and Sarah Rockett of Duxbury, MA; their mother Lisa Allen Rockett of Duxbury, MA; brother Matthew T. Rockett and his wife Marie Rockett of Hull, MA; brother Daniel P. Rockett of Plymouth, MA; nieces Frankie and Rae Rockett, Nicole Towne and Abigail DeVeuve; nephews Daniel Towne, Michael DeVeuve, Brett and Emmett Ewart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, October 15 at 10.a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 3rd St, East Greenwich, RI. Burial at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday, 3pm-6pm at Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St, East Greenwich RI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tufts University Athletics Program or to Bishop Hendricken High School.
