Angelo Almonte, Jr.

Angelo Almonte, Jr., 88, of Warwick passed away peacefully at home on January 12, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Angelo was the beloved husband of the late Mary Doreen Almonte for 50 years. Born in Providence he was the son of the late Angelo, Sr. and Santina (Vilella) Almonte.

Angelo Jr., worked for his family’s business, Federal Dairy until his retirement. Federal Dairy was founded by Angelo Sr., and his brothers Henry and Alfred Almonte.

Angelo Jr., was an avid card player, billiards player and bowler winning many bowling awards. In later years he enjoyed watching reruns of Law & Order.

He was a quiet and humble man that loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Anyone who met him loved his caring and gentle nature. His family is comforted knowing that anyone who came in contact with him always felt welcome and had nothing but pleasant memories of him.

He is survived by six children, Suzanne Varela (Mario), Angelo III, Lori Jean, John P., Michael P., and Richard F. Almonte (Stephanie), 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and siblings; Peter, William, and Anthony Almonte and Ann Toro. He was the brother of the late Frances Medeiros and Elaine Howland.

Funeral Friday January 18 th at 10:00 am from the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St., East Greenwich. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours: Thursday January 17 th 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the John Fogarty Center, 310 Maple Ave., #102, Barrington, RI 02806, www.forgartycenter.org
