Angelyn M. (Rocchio) Kiernan, of East Greenwich, died peacefully on May 1, 2018, two weeks short of her 90th birthday. Born in Warwick, she was the wife of the late James E. Kiernan Jr. and the daughter of the late Anthony and Antonetta (Pelosi) Rocchio. Angelyn was a graduate of Aldrich High School and Brown University and worked for the state of RI before starting her family.
Angelyn was a caring and devoted mother and grandmother, and her genuine love for her family shone through in everything she did. Happiest when she was spending time with her family, she also loved to travel, read and was an avid shopper and power walker. She possessed a quick wit and always had a clever retort ready for any remark.
She is survived by her four children: Erin Rath and her husband Nicholas, of Warwick; Jamie Persutti and her husband Anthony, of Warwick; James Kiernan of East Greenwich; Paul Kiernan and his wife Tammy, of Lincoln; and her daughter-in-law, Anita Kiernan. She was the cherished grandmother of 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her twin sister, Madelyn Dee of East Greenwich and her sister Elena Rocchio of Alexandria, Virginia. She was the sister of the late Charles and Robert Rocchio and also leaves behind her devoted companion, Vincent Cullen, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 5 th at 11:00am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St., East Greenwich. Visitation, prior to the Mass 8:30am-10:30am at the Hill Funeral Home 822 Main St., East Greenwich. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, East Greenwich. Donations in her memory can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
