Anita Claire (Genereux) Harrington, 84, of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025. She was born in Pawtucket, RI, on July 1, 1941, to the late Adrien and Doris (LaPointe) Genereux. She was the devoted wife of the late William (Billy) Patrick Harrington. She is survived by her children, Brian Harrington and his wife, Kelly, of North Kingstown; and Paul Harrington of Austin, Texas; her sister and best friend, Irene (Genereux) Parenteau of Cumberland; and her pride and joy, her grandchildren: William and Elizabeth Harrington; Maeve, Owen, Meryl, and Finn McPartlin, of North Kingstown; Kaile Chea (Matt) of Elgin, Texas; and Ashlyn and Shylah Harrington of Coventry. She also leaves behind a great-grandson, Bryson Chea of Elgin, Texas.
She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Central Falls. She worked at Blue Cross in the financials department, worked in the cafeteria at Rocky Hill School, and was a bank teller at Citizens Bank (formerly Old Stone Bank) for many years. Though, her greatest joy and most fulfilling roles were those of Mom, Mémère, and Auntie.
In addition, she leaves behind many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, sister-(and brother-)in-law, and dear friends near and far. Anita was the kindest, most accepting, gracious, and caring person who joyfully affected everyone around her with her remarkable ability to connect with them with her natural authenticity, warmth, and sincerity. She had a gift for touching the hearts of every person she encountered and making everyone feel special and loved.
Her favorite activity was spending time with her family and grandchildren at any opportunity. She loved her regular gatherings with her beloved cousins and dearest friends. She was devoted to maintaining her friendships with many of her best friends for multiple decades, including friends from grade school. She also enjoyed talking to her sister every day on the phone, playing cards, attending her Bible Study group, going to book club, watching TV shows recommended by family and friends, and snuggling with her cat and companion, Max. She absolutely loved listening to music and almost any tune would get her feet tapping and her head bopping along with the music.
