Anne Megan Sedlock, 49, of East Greenwich passed away peacefully surrounded by love on Wednesday, August 22, 2018.
Born in Manchester, CT, Anne was the oldest of the four daughters of James T. Sedlock and the late Barbara Anne Ryan Sedlock. She is survived by her father, three sisters Kerry E. Sedlock, Clare S. (Sedlock) DeMagistris, and Maura R. Gazerro, two brothers-in-law Martin K. DeMagistris, and John D. Gazerro, three nephews, John R. and Stephen D. Gazerro and James W. DeMagistris, and niece Maeve M. Gazerro.
Anne received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, a master’s degree from Northeastern University, then spent 15 years working at Partners Healthcare, advancing in IT training positions, and building lasting friendships. She discovered she wanted to directly interact with patients as a clinician and went back to school to earn a nurse practitioner degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Health Professionals. She became a primary care provider at CCAP in Cranston and the Women's Medicine Collaborative in Providence, where she absolutely loved her patients and cherished her colleagues.
Anne had a strong spiritual center and found strength in her faith community, which included a consistent thread throughout her life of volunteering to serve the needy. As an undergrad in Philadelphia and during her many years living in Boston, she helped to serve meals at soup kitchens and in homeless shelters. She also worked for two years at a battered women's shelter in California while in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps.
To be around Anne was to experience her ever-present smile and cheerfulness, her infectious sense of compassion for others’ perspectives and hardships, her joy to simply be in nature, and her love of children (most especially enjoyed by her wonderful niece and nephews). Like her mother before her she will be deeply missed but will always be a cherished part of her family and dear friends.
