Archangel "Angie" Barboza

67, of Johnston, RI passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Born in 1947, she was the daughter of the late James Santos and Antonia Spencer Santos and lovingly raised as their own by the late Catherine and Armand Barboza. Angie was employed as an educator at the Adult Correctional Institution in Cranston for the past 25 years. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Boston State College in 1969 and as the ultimate example to her students, pursued graduate courses throughout her career as a lifelong learner. Angie was a devoted Mother, Grandmother and teacher who was known for her kindness and compassion. She will be remembered most for her gift of giving, her genuine interest in others' lives and teaching people to believe in themselves. She is survived by her children, Katarina Brown and husband Steven of East Greenwich, Marcus Teixeira and his Fiancé Brandy Ryan of Johnston; and 4 Grandchildren Nadia, Niko, Ivyssa and Chloe. Besides her children, she is also survived by her brother Steven Santos Barboza of Cape Cod, MA. She was the sister of the late Marie A. Spencer Harris Cantrell and Phyllis A. Santos-Bussey. She was a Dear Aunt to Doreen, Maureen, Renita, Mathew and Aliz Harris and to many other nieces and nephews. A Memorial Celebration to commemorate her life will be held Saturday, September 19th from 12:00 – 4:00PM at the Cape Verdean Progressive Center, 329 Grosvenor Avenue, East Providence, RI.
