Arthur S. Dwyer, of Providence passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, at HopeHealth Hospice, having just celebrated his 89th birthday two days prior. He was the husband of Irene C. (O’Donnell) Dwyer.Arthur’s life was one of deep commitment and quiet strength. He dedicated his life to service – both to his country and community. He spent 29 years of combined service in the United States Army and Army Reserves. He also spent 29 years with the Providence Police Department. Those who knew him best will remember him for his steady presence and kind heart. He leaves behind his wife, Irene, and his son, Michael Dwyer. He is also survived by his sister, Karen Nyberg, and his brothers, Richard Dwyer and Vincent Tortolani. Arthur held a special place in his heart for his five great-nieces and nephews—Morena, Paulo, Mari, Kevin, and Mariah Gomes—who brought him love and joy. He now joins his late parents, Arthur and Genevieve, and his brothers, John and Charles, in peace. Arthur’s life will be honored at a Mass held on February 3, 2026 10:00am at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Providence. He will be laid to rest at St. Ann Cemetery in Cranston.
