Barbara J. Silva

Barbara Joan (Eluziario) Silva of East Greenwich passed away on September 29, 2019. She was the wife of 47 years to the late Nelson Joseph Silva. Born in New Bedford, MA she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Emily (Sousa) Eluziario.

She graduated from New Bedford High School along with her husband Nelson, in 1960. She attended St. Anne’s Nursing School in Fall River, MA and the University of Rhode Island.

She was employed at the former Old Colony Bank in East Greenwich and Paul Arpin Van Lines. Recently, she was employed as a receptionist at St. Elizabeth Home in East Greenwich.

She was the past President of the East Greenwich Business and Professional Women and later became President of the Rhode Island Federation of Business and Professional Woman. She was also past President of the East Greenwich Police Auxiliary.

Being a February baby, she loved the color purple, loved traveling to New Hampshire and was an avid Red Sox fan. She also loved to visit Walt Disney World.

She is survived by her son, Nelson Joseph Silva, Jr., and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the step sister of the late Joseph Eluziario, Jr.

Funeral service Monday October 7 ^th at 12:30 pm in the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. Burial will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
