Betsey M. Mitchell

Betsey M. Mitchell, 73, of Richmond, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in love and prayer on May 10, 2017. She was the wife of Tony J. Zulla. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late George L. and Jane (Fales) Miner.

Betsey was a true lover of nature, wildlife, her cats, her family and God. Her eternally curious mind meant she was always reading and learning something new. Her resourceful nature left no old scrap or tidbit without renewed purpose. Betsey felt equally at home sailing, milking goats, or climbing mountains, and she always found special contentment in her carefully tended gardens at home and church. But as much as she loved rooting herself in the dirt, her free spirit led her to adventures all over the world, from Japan to Israel to Iceland to canoeing the Allagash. Betsey was born in Providence Hospital and graduated high school from Warwick Veteran Memorial in 1961. Her zest for life and twinkling blue eyes will be missed.

Besides her husband she is survived by; a daughter Rebecca L. Holm and her husband Tim, a son Darrell B. Mitchell and his wife Megan, grandchildren: Amberle, Cayge, Elisabeth, Grace, Soren and Theo and a brother Curtis L. Miner and his wife Diane.

A celebration of her life will be held Friday, May 19th at 10:00am at Carolina Free Baptist Church, 504 Carolina Back Rd., Charlestown. Donations in her memory may be made to CareNet, 35 Greenwich St., Providence, RI 02907 or Rhode Island Wild Plant Society, P.O. Box 888, North Kingstown, RI 02852
