It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carmine Amato Jr. (Junie), 86 a lifelong resident of East Greenwich, who passed away on April 14th 2025. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Latricia (McKinley) Amato (Pat). Born in his home on Exchange St. in East Greenwich, he was the son of the late Carmine and Amalia (Denice) Amato. (Mollie)
Remembered by everyone for his big genuine smile, caring way, and unwavering presence in times of need, Carmine was the kind of person who made the world feel a little kinder just by being in it. He had a unique ability to bring comfort, laughter and light to those around him, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege to know him.
After serving in the US Army Reserve Carmine began his working life as a laborer & construction worker with a reputation for hard work and quiet integrity. Later becoming a full time quahogger for many years until his retirement. He was a social member of the VFW POST 15 and associate member of East Greenwich Veterans Firemen's Hall.
His greatest joys were spending time with his grandchildren, and cooking for others. Friends and family knew they'd never leave his home hungry. Whether it was a listening ear, a helping hand, or simply a warm smile, Carmine was always there when it mattered most. His legacy of kindness, strength, and quiet compassion lives on in the hearts of his family, friends and community.
