CDR. Daniel Kershaw, USN (Ret.)

Commander Daniel Kershaw, USN (RET), 97, of North Kingstown, died on August 12, 2025. He was the husband of the late Marilyn (Murray) Kershaw. Dan was born in New York City of the late Katherine (Loughrain) and Daniel Kershaw and raised in Johnson City, NY from where he enlisted in the Navy after high school.

He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, The Naval War College and Rhode Island College, and was a Korean War Veteran and experienced carrier pilot.

After Navy retirement, Dan became a teacher at East Greenwich and North Kingstown High Schools for the NJROTC Program. Among his community activities Dan was a member and past president of the NK Personnel Board, a driver for Meals on Wheels, a member and past president of the Central Retired Teachers Association, and a choir member and religious education teacher for St. Francis de Sales Church in North Kingstown.

Commander Kershaw is survived by his children, Kathleen Schwab (Gerard), Daniel Kershaw (Christine), and Elizabeth Miozzi, grandchildren, Eric Schwab (Megan), Kevin Schwab (Sherri), Brian Schwab (Meghan), Katherine Kershaw, Julia Kershaw, Lillian Kershaw, Steven Miozzi, and Jessica Miozzi, and great grandchildren Marilyn, Mason, Dory (deceased), Audrey, Alana, and Bailey.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Francis de Sales Church, School St., North Kingstown. Burial with military honors will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, East Greenwich.
