Charles Ward, Jr.

Charles Ward, Jr., 87, passed away December 23, 2017. He was the husband of Dawn J. (Martin) Ward. Born in Smithfield he was a son of the late Charles and Edith (McLean) Ward.

Mr. Ward was an air traffic controller for the US Government for over 25 years and he served in the Rhode Island Air National Guard for over 20 years. He was an active member of the East Greenwich First Baptist Church, a member of the South County Rod & Gun Club, an avid hunter and fisherman and was a former Scout Master of Troop 14, Quidnessett. He volunteered at Camp Canonicus in Exeter and had been a former volunteer fireman with the former Quidnessett Volunteer Fire Department.

Besides his wife he is survived by five children: Charles Ward, III, Mark D. Ward (Patty), Thomas M. Ward, Brad R. Ward (Christine), and Holly D. Swift (Jeffrey) and six grandchildren, two sisters Alice Edge and Jean Epperson, and he was the former father in law to Susan Ferrante and Marcy Ward. He was the brother of the late J. Milton Ward

Funeral service Friday December 29 ^th at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of East Greenwich, corner Peirce & Montrose Sts., East Greenwich. Burial with military honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours: Thursday December 28 ^th 5-8 pm in the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich.
