Clara L. Daylor

Clara L. Daylor, 101 and 8 months, passed away on August 12, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving daughters. A life-long resident of East Greenwich, she was a True Townie. The youngest of six children, she was preceded in death by her parents, William Rice and Julia (Rumbles) Rice, along with her five siblings, Ellen (Rice) Clarke, Esther (Rice) Mallory, Walter Rice, James Rice, and Edward Rice.

Clara dedicated her life to her family, having seven children with her late husband, Charles H. Daylor, Sr. Her children include five girls and two boys, Shirley A. (Daylor) Johnson, Sandra L. (Daylor) Salisbury, the late Charles H. Daylor, Jr, Charlene R. (Daylor) Peterson, Jackie S. (Daylor) Champlin, John P. Daylor, and Julie A. Daylor. Clara loved to live life to the fullest each and every day. Some of her favorite things to do were singing and dancing, especially with her group the Gingham Girls, playing bingo with her friends at the EG Senior Center, playing cards and Scrabble with her family at home, and cooking big Sunday dinners every week. She loved to bake and give it all away, especially her breads in the freezer. She loved to knit her famous dishcloths and give them away to all of her family and friends. She always made sure to have a couple in her pocketbook to give away in case she ran into someone when she was out.

Her funeral service and burial will be held privately. Donations in Clara's memory can be made to the Fire Museum at the East Greenwich Veteran Fireman's Association at 80 Queen St, East Greenwich, RI 02818.
