On February 19, 2022, Cynthia Howard, 85, went to spend her eternal life with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born September 13, 1936, and was a native of Rhode Island until she was 18 years old. Cynthia then married her husband, John P. Howard, Sr., and they moved to Tallahassee for John to attend Florida State University (FSU). Upon his graduation, Cynthia and John moved to Port St. Joe, Florida in 1959 where she resided until 2012 when she moved to Tallahassee to be closer to her son Patrick.

Cynthia was a professional secretary for Glidden, St. Joe Telephone Company, and GT Com. Her typing skills were so phenomenal that she burned up two electric typewriters.

Cynthia was a caring daughter, mother, friend, and family member. She most recently resided in Brevard, North Carolina, where she spent her last few years living in a cooler climate watching the white squirrels from her window.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Avis Redmond, Grandmother Martha Allen, past husband John Howard, Sr., and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her son, J. Patrick Howard, Jr., and his wife Tiffany Carr both of Port St. Joe, Florida.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at 1:30 pm at Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich, RI. Burial will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown, RI. In lieu of flowers, please make donations by check to Cousins Critter Rescue, Inc. (a 501(c) (3) nonprofit) at the visitation or by mail to P.O. Box 1215, Port St. Joe, Florida 32457.
