Deborah A. Sherman, 66, passed away December 9, 2025. She was the wife of the late Craig W. Sherman. Born in Warwick she was a daughter of the late Doris A. (Robson) Richmond and the step daughter of the late William Richmond, II.
Deborah A. Sherman, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, artist, and teacher, passed away peacefully with her beloved daughter by her side. Born with a gifted creative spirit, Deborah began her studies in art at the University of Rhode Island, where her imagination and talent naturally shined. She later changed her major to Early Childhood Education, discovering a new passion for guiding and nurturing young children.
Deborah married her high school sweetheart, Craig, and together they built a life deeply rooted in love, commitment, and shared dreams. During Craig’s service in the Navy, Deborah cared for their daughter, Jenniferbeth, managing family life with the quiet strength and steadiness that defined her.
Later in life, Deborah found her calling as a Toddler Teacher at Sweet Peas Village, where she worked for more than twenty years. She was known for her patience, creativity, and gentle spirit. Deborah gave endlessly to the children in her care, guiding them with kindness, humor, and a deep sense of purpose. To her co-workers and the many families she touched, she was the very definition of dedication and warmth.
Outside of work, Deborah enjoyed a life filled with simple, meaningful pleasures…gardening, long walks, days at the beach, time spent with friends, peaceful yoga sessions, and quiet moments reading. She especially cherished her daily coffee time with her husband, Craig, a small ritual that brought her comfort and joy.
One of Deborah’s greatest joy’s came from becoming a grandmother. She and Craig were immensely proud of their growing family, and Deborah embraced the role of “Grandma” with her signature enthusiasm and love. She had a special bond with her eldest granddaughter, Trinity, yet all of her grandchildren were truly her world. Whether it was adventuring, laughing, creating, or simply just being present, she poured her entire heart into them.
To know Deborah was to know a one-of-a-kind human being. She was strong and unafraid to stand up for what she believed in, thoughtful beyond measure, and genuinely caring in a way that left a lasting imprint on everyone she met. Her legacy is one of love, compassion, and creativity…woven through her family, her students, her art, and the many lives she touched.
Deborah will be deeply missed and forever cherished…especially by her daughter.
She is survived by her daughter Jenniferbeth Smith and her husband Darren and five grandchildren, Trinity, Kaleb, Logan, Jaxson and Amelia.
Her funeral and burial was private. Arrangements entrusted to the Hill Skeffington Funeral Home of East Greenwich. www.hillskeffington.com
