Debra I. Macera

Debra I. Macera, 54, a lifelong resident East Greenwich, passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was a beloved daughter of Stephen Macera of East Greenwich and the late Barbara (Jencks) Macera.

She worked as an office manager for many years but her passion was in the medical field and taking care people. Prior to her diagnosis, she had graduated from a Geriatric Nursing Assistant Specialist Program.

Debbie loved animals, especially Black Angus cows. She was a lifelong 4-H Member and volunteer and longtime member of the American Angus Association.

Debbie was a strong willed outspoken woman. She was very loyal and feisty. She was a cheerleader to her sister and showed constant support and encouragement. She loved her family and was looking forward to becoming a first time grandmother. She will be sadly missed.

She was the loving mother of Cassandra Tibbits and her husband Michael of Richmond; the sister of Vito Macera of East Greenwich, Angela Briggs and her husband Edward of Exeter and the late Stephen “Ponch” Macera and his wife Tammy Macera. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who loved her very much. She had many aunts and uncles including Rose Vierra of Warwick and Judith Walton of Alexander City, AL. She also leaves her loyal companion, her dog Madison.

Her funeral service will be Friday, March 18th at 11:30AM at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. Burial will be private. Calling hours: Thursday, March 17th 4:00PM to 7:00PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to RI 4-H Club Foundation, Inc., PO Box 1925, Kingston, RI 02881 or VNA of Care New England, 51 Health Lane, Warwick, RI 02886.
