Donna Irene Brooks passed away peacefully at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence on Sunday, July 6, 2025. Born right here in Providence, Donna was the beloved daughter of the late Cody and Anna Spenard Eccelston.
Donna was the devoted wife of Leon Q. Brooks of Cranston. Throughout her life, she worked diligently as the front-end manager for Sam's Club in Seekonk, Massachusetts, where she was known for her dedication and warm spirit. She truly enjoyed many simple pleasures, including spending quality time with her grandchildren, hayrides, apple picking, and nurturing a passion for crocheting and puzzles. She also had a strong religious belief of helping others.
Besides her husband, Donna is survived by her daughter, Kerri York of Providence; her son, Ryan York of Warwick; and her stepdaughter, Angelica Rei Brooks of Las Vegas, Nevada. She also leaves four brother Ronnie and Walter Malinowski Richard, David, and Gary Eccelston—and a loving sister, Linda Malinowski.
Donna's legacy also lives on through her two grandsons, Mark Jennings and Ryan Thomas, who brought immense joy to her life. She shared a special bond with her close friend and sister, Jean York, who remained a steadfast companion through the years. Additionally, Donna's faithful canine companion, Kismet, remains by the family's side during this difficult time. She was the sister of the late Walter Eccelston, Elaine Plante and Carol Ayres.
