Dorothy O. Lamson, passed away at the Bradley Creek Health Center in Wilmington, NC on July 22, 2018. Dorothy was born on January 7, 1925 in Pawtucket, RI.  She is survived by sons George and Lee, her sister Mavis Whalon, brother Thomas Taylor and four grandchildren.

Dottie served in the US Army in China in WWII where she met and married George T. Lamson (deceased). After the war they raised their family in Smithfield, RI during which time she also earned a Masters in Education from Rhode Island College. She taught 4th grade and retired from the Smithfield School System. Dottie was a life long learner and throughout her life encouraged everyone she met to make the most of their lives through education, hard work and perseverance.

She was also an avid hiker, biker, cross country skier, bridge player, classical pianist, world traveler and lover of the arts and music. Dottie was an AMC Four Thousand Foot Member and an ACBL Life Master in Duplicate Bridge. She participated in all activities with energy, curiosity and an unbridled joie de vivre. Dorothy was devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She lived a full and meaningful life and will be sorely missed.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday August 15 th at 7pm at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main Street, East Greenwich, RI. Visitation will precede the memorial service from 6pm-7pm. In lieu of flowers please make donations to either the Appalachian Mountain Club at www.outdoors.org/get-involved/donate or to the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School at donatenow.networkforgood.org/riphil/
