Edmund "Ed" Kelly

Edmund (Ed) Kelly, 66, passed away suddenly on December 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Beatrice (Jackson) Kelly and Edmund Kelly, Sr. Ed was the beloved husband of Karlene (Killen) Kelly, with whom he shared a lifetime of laughter, partnership, and unconditional love. He was a proud and dedicated father to Kristen L Kelly, and her husband Daniel Copeman of New York, NY, and son Stephen J Kelly of Los Angeles, California. His children were his greatest pride, and his admiration for their accomplishments knew no bounds.

He also leaves behind a close-knit and cherished family: his sister Maureen (Kelly) Claflin and her husband Kenneth, brother Michael Kelly and his partner Janice Greenwood, sister Jeanne (Kelly) Babb and husband Alan, brother Brian Kelly and his wife Maria, sister Theresa (Kelly) Berry and her husband Jim. Ed will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

Ed attended Bryant College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business management. He was the owner and operator of Bryant Construction, Inc. for 30 years, building and renovating homes throughout Rhode Island. Known for his skill, integrity and eye for detail he brought dreams to life through his work. Beyond his professional life, Ed was an avid sports enthusiast and especially loved football, particularly his Minnesota Vikings.

He enjoyed golfing and going for walks along the Narragansett sea wall. Ed loved people. He could strike up a conversation with just about anyone and had many lifelong friends. His warmth, humor and gift for storytelling made him a cherished presence to all who knew him. Ed’s legacy is one of love, connection and unshakable commitment to his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to share his journey.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 3rd at 10:00 am at Saint Francis de Sales Church, 381 School St., North Kingstown. Burial will be private. Calling hours are omitted. In lieu of Flowers, donations in Ed’s name may be made to the Jimmy Fund
