Edward Macari, 95, of Cranston, died peacefully Sunday, February 12, 2017, at Briarcliffe Manor in Johnston. He joins his beloved wife, Agnes, who passed in 2011.
Born in Providence, on June 4, 1921, he was the son of the late Gabriel and Elizabeth (Masso) Macari.
He was the loving father of Gerrie Verrecchia and her husband, Alfred, of Narragansett. He was Poppie to six grandchildren who will miss him very much: Michael (Dawn), Michele (Chris) Levy, Melisa Verrecchia (Andy Marr), Lisa (Lucio) Montes, Davina (Ken) Minton, Alicia (Jeremy) Gambell, and great-grandchildren, Austin, Victoria, Lucas, Madeline, Justin, Riley, Kaya and Jacob.
He is predeceased by his daughter, Janice E. Hendricks, and his sisters, Marietta Charbonneau, Connie Marandola, Jennie Fratiello, and brother John Macari.
He lived in the same home in Garden City for more than 60 years, and had wonderful neighbors who always checked on him.
The family would like to thank Briarcliffe Manor for their loving care and support to our Poppie and to the family.
We will miss you, Poppie. You will be in our hearts always. We love you.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 17th at 11:00am at St. Mark’s Church, 15 Garden Ct., Cranston. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation will be prior to the Mass from 8:30am to 10:00am at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich.
