Elaine V. Spencer

Elaine V. Spencer, 97, of East Greenwich, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2018.  She was the wife of the late Robert R. Spencer.  Born in West Warwick, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Ovena (Gadoury) Hitte.

Mrs. Spencer was an elementary school teacher for the East Greenwich School System for 37 years.  She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and had been an active member of the East Greenwich Animal Protection League.

She is survived by her children; Robert R. Spencer and his wife Pauline and Meredith A. Sargent and her husband Thomas, grandchildren; Thomas Sargent, Matthew Sargent and Amy Fraser and greatgrandchildren; Ryan and Kyle Fraser, Benjamin, Noah and Owen Sargent and Evan and Addilyn Sargent.  She was the mother of the late Janice Spencer Harrison and the sister of the late Walter Hitte.

Funeral Service Tuesday, January 23 ^rd at 10:00am at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich.  Burial will be in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.  Calling hours:  Monday, January 22 ^nd 5-7pm.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
