Elinor T. Burnett

Elinor T. Burnett, age 90 of North Kingstown, RI, passed away on Monday, July 24th. She was the loving wife of the late William G. Burnett to whom she was married for over 64 years. Born in Warwick, she was the daughter of the late Edward H. and Josephine (Tellier) McCaughey. After graduating from Gorton High School she was employed at Narragansett Electric until starting her family and becoming a devoted mother.

Elinor and “Bill” raised their family in East Greenwich and created many special memories at their vacation home on Ossippe Lake in New Hampshire. They also enjoyed many years of retirement in Dunedin, FL.

Elinor leaves her children Steven Burnett (Jocelyn) of Taunton, MA; Colleen Osmanski (Matthew) of North Kingstown; the late Clyde Burnett; her brother Bill McCaughey (Judy) of West Kingston, RI; and her six grandchildren, Michelle, Monique, Matthew, Brooke, Jacqueline and James. She was the sister of the late Claire Foster, Edward McCaughey, Louis McCaughey, Rita Benoit, and Audrey Romano.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday July 28th at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St., East Greenwich. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, East Greenwich. Calling hours: Thursday July 27th 4-6 pm at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
