Emi S. Crouse, 89, of North Kingstown passed away peacefully Sunday June 28 th 2020 at her home of 56years in the loving arms of her of her Son and Daughter-In-Law following a brief illness.  Born in Fukashima Japan October 3, 1930 she was the daughter of late Zenji Saito and Tomeyo.

Emi is predeceased by her husband of 62 years Carl W Crouse.  Emi met and married her husband Carl while he was stationed at Yokosuka Naval Base in Japan.  She and Carl were stationed at many Naval Bases around the world including Guantanamo Bay Cuba, Quonset Point, Great Lakes Illinois, and NRTC Oshkosh Wisconsin.  While stationed in Rhode Island Emi and Carl fell in love with the area and purchased their home where they lived while Carl finished his Navy career and throughout his retirement, Emi never truly retired.  They made many lifelong friends throughout Carl’s military career.  Emi was an amazing hostess for the many gatherings they hosted in their home throughout the years.  Holidays were always filled with laughter and wonderful Traditional Japanese dishes as well as American favorites.  A family favorite was her Sukiyaki.   Emi was a Homemaker, Mother, Grandmother, and Wonderful Mother –in-Law.  She met many people through her talent for sewing and was known for her wonderful ability to create the perfect wedding dress, prom dress, curtains or doing alterations to make something fit just right.  She enjoyed spending her time with her family & friends, gardening, shopping for a great deal at Salvation Army and sewing.  Emi’s granddaughter Melanie was her pride and joy.  She was a member of the Japan Society, The Ladies Auxiliary Fleet Reserve Association Branch 42, and the North Kingstown Senior Center.

She was the loving Mother of Michael A Crouse and his wife Katherine of North Kingstown and the grandmother of Melanie Moore and fiancé Scott Miller of Wasilla Alaska.   She is the sister of Rei Kato of Yokosuka Japan and her late brother Yoshihiro Saito, and late sisters Rie Saito, Miho Ishikawa. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.   She is also survived by her dear friends and neighbors Shirley St. Sauveur, Donna Diorio and Lori and Steve Pearson.

The Funeral and burial will be private with a Memorial service and celebration of her life to be held at a later date.  Flowers are respectfully omitted; Contributions in Emi’s memory may be made to the North Kingstown Food Pantry 455 School St.  North Kingstown R.I. 02852 or Hope Hospice 1085 N. Main St. Providence, R.I. 02904.  Special Thanks to the Caring and compassionate staff at South County Home Health, Hope Hospice for their loving care of our Mother, and to Leslie from Dr. Lucarelli’s office for all your compassion and caring throughout Emi’s illness.  The words “Thank You” will never truly express our gratitude.
