Erasmo 'Raz' Ortiz

Erasmo Ortiz, 71 Cross Street, Westerly passed away Saturday, January 20th at Westerly Hospital. He is predeceased by his parents Ernesto Ortiz and Petra Martinez Ortiz brother’s Daniel Ortiz, Carmelo Ortiz and Miguel Ortiz. Surviving siblings Hector Ortiz, Ernestor Ortiz, William Ortiz, Juanita Toress Ortiz, Nelinda Ortiz, Fransico (Papo) Ortiz, Doris Ortiz. He leaves his children, sons Eric Ortiz, Joel Ortiz daughters, Nora Ortiz Rivera, son-in-law Pablo Rivera, and Rhonda R Ducharme. Grandchildren Cornema C Dethomas, Christian Dethomas, Calista C Rodrigues. Erasmo was a caregiver and chef. Raz played a vital role in holding the family together, connecting distant relatives from Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, New York, and Massachusetts. He was the central figure in various family gatherings, including weddings, birthdays, and funerals where in the kitchen, Raz showcased his culinary skills, cooking delicious meals that were adored by everyone who knew him. Known for his unique ability to crack jokes, he was quick to “ninja” ya, Raz's straightforward humor earned him quite a reputation. Additionally, he took on the responsibility of caring for the children of many relatives, leaving a profound positive impact on their lives. With his infectious personality, he never failed to bring smiles to the faces of those around him, no matter where he went. Raz will be deeply missed, with memories cherished forever.
