Everett M. Gomes, Sr.

86, of New Bedford, MA passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2016. He is survived by his wife Shirley Pinto-Gomes; six children: Angelina Dyson, Anita Gomes-Stewart, Everett Gomes Jr., Linda Gomes, Brian Gomes and the late Christina Reed; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; stepdaughter Michelle Dias, and step grandaughter Loryn Jackmon; siblings Dorothy McCollough, Barbara Butler, Susan Boone, Peter Monteiro, and the late John Monteiro and Elizabeth Price. Everett was an esteemed member of the Elks IBPOEW and had served as Past District Deputy, Past Grand Exalted Ruler, Past State President, Exalted Ruler at William H. Carney Lodge, Royal Knight, and Brigadier General in the Antler Guard Dept. On Saturday visiting hours at Bethel AME Church, 532 County Street, New Bedford MA, from 1:00-2:00pm followed by funeral services at 2:00pm in Bethel AME Church. On Tuesday a Service with Military Honors will take place at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery at 10:45 a.m. in East Providence, followed by a memorial luncheon at the Elks Lodge, 32 Haskins Street in Providence. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. All flower donations should be sent to the Bethel AME Church, 532 County Street, New Bedford, MA between 10:30 -12:00 noon on Saturday.
