George A. Beaven, Iii

George A. Beaven III, age 69, died unexpectedly on July 27, 2020.  He was a life-long resident of Pojac Point, the son of the late George and Helen (Whitaker) Beaven.  George had provided devoted care to both of his parents in their declining years.

He is survived by a sister, Dr. Gail B. Wangerin and husband Lawrence, of Methuen MA. He is also survived by a brother, Geoffrey A. Beaven and wife Joan of West Greenwich, RI.

Additionally he leaves two nieces, Rebecca Wangerin-Wolf and Elizabeth Beaven and a nephew, Benjamin Wangerin as well as two grandnieces and several dear cousins.

George graduated from North Kingstown High School where he was a well-regarded member of the wrestling team- a sport which became a lifelong interest. He also was a volunteer fire fighter for the Quidnessett Fire Station since his high school years.   He continued his education at URI, majoring in chemistry, with honors.

He had adored his pets, especially his dogs Shadow, and Gretel, and his cat, Tiger Lily.

He was an avid collector of many items, including vehicles such as the former Quidnessett Engine # 4, and a '69 Chevelle SS.

George's employment included Electric Boat in North Kingstown and the Wakefield Post Office. In later years George was employed as a mechanic and welder for the Providence Post Office. He was preparing for his retirement at the time of his passing.

"We, his family, saw George as a kind and gentle man who always could be counted on. We will miss him very much."
