George Nicastro, 97, a longtime resident of East Greenwich passed peacefully into eternal life on September 1, 2024. He was the husband of the late Beverley (Reynolds) Nicastro. Born in Pawtucket he was a son of the late Luigi and Josephine (Capozzoli) Nicastro.
He worked as a draftsman throughout his career and was a Marine veteran of WWII and the Korean War. George was an avid gardener and a devoted communicant and volunteer at St. Francis de Sales Church.
He is survived by three sons Kenneth G. Nicastro (Sandi), James R. Nicastro (Terry) and Richard J. Nicastro; 7 grandchildren Kendra (Nicastro) Fox (Steve), Matthew Luongo, Samuel Nicastro (Rachael), Jacob Nicastro, Andrew Nicastro (Kayla Mudge), Joseph Nicastro and Gary Nicastro (Falon Cameron) and four great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Kathleen A. Luongo. He was the youngest of ten children and was predeceased by James, Vito, Frank, Thomas, Dominic, Louis, and Dorothy Nicastro, Viola (Nicastro) Policelli and Fannie (Nicastro) Gannon.
George was deeply devoted to his family and a good friend to his neighbors.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday September 6th at 11:00 am at St. Francis de Sales Church, School St., North Kingstown. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 am – 10:30 am in the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich.
