George Schweitzer

George Schweitzer, 84, of Warwick and formerly of Portsmouth, Tiverton, Coventry and Osprey, FL, passed away on November 13, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Judith A. (Arciero) Schweitzer. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Emil and Rose (Carrier) Schweitzer.

Mr. Schweitzer was the owner and operator of Kleer-Kleen Carpet Cleaning for over 30 years. He was an Army Korean War Veteran, 82nd Airborne Division and a member of the RI National Guard Reserve. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason.

The three words that sum up his life; God, Family, Country.

Besides his wife he is survived by, 5 children: Charlene M. Almy, Lynn R. Sullivan and her husband Len, Scott G. Schweitzer and his wife Michele, Heidi Schweitzer and Kristin T. Scott; 6 step-children: Lisa J. LaBracio, Michele D. Lipman, Jerry M. Morvillo, Cynthia A. Tutan, Sandra L. Tordoff and Lori C. Morvillo; 6 grandchildren: Craig Almy, Melissa Schweitzer, Alyssa R. Sullivan, Dylan O’Connor, Scottie Schweitzer and Amanda Scott; 14 step-grandchildren: Malorie and Mathew Lipma, Genarro and Quinn Morvillo, Jake Tutan, Nicholle Douglas, Dustin Tordoff, Stephanie Mitchell, Dylan, Kylie, Ethan and Lydia Tordoff, Jenna Strauss and Sarah Maloof; former wife, Sylvia (Jean) Schweitzer; a brother William Gerlach and nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late, Ann Gerlach,; grandfather of the late Cayla Marie Almy and father-in-law of the late Richard Almy.

Funeral Service Monday, November 20th, at 11:30am at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. Visitation prior to the service, 10:30-11:30am. Committal with military honors will be in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the DAV at secure.dav.org/donate
