George G. Smith, Jr.

Smith, George G., Jr., 89, a longtime resident of East Greenwich, passed away February 11, 2016. He was the husband of the late Barbara A. (Blanchard) Smith. Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late George G. Smith, Sr. and Alice G. (DeVries) Smith.

Mr. Smith had been a delivery truck driver for Suburban Propane and a WWII Navy Veteran.

He was the devoted father of Gloria J. Bennis, George R. Smith and his wife Cheryl, Joseph H. Smith and his wife Barbara and Deborah A. Dean; grandfather of Timothy Bennis, Wendy Westberry, Jennifer Grainger, Kayla and Kimberly Jessop, Daniel and Kimberly Matteson, Joshua Dean, Brian Smith and Jennifer Stockdale and great grandfather of 10. He was the brother of the late Lillian Locke; grandfather of the late Keith Bennis and Melissa, George Jr., and Michael Smith and father in law of the late Richard Bennis and Robert Dean.

Funeral Service Tuesday, February 16th at 11:00AM at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. Visitation prior to the service 10-11AM. Burial with military honors will be in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
