Gerald B. Vaudreuil

Gerald B. Vaudreuil, 91, of Saunderstown, RI and Swansea, MA died unexpectedly on December 5.  Born May 8 th to Leo and Ethel (Barry) Vaudreuil, he married Lorraine (Gagnon) Vaudreuil in 1955 and is survived by their 4 children: Lynne McDonough (Jim), of Braintree, MA, Gail Smiley(David) of Quincy, MA, Stephen (Fran)of Warwick, RI and Jim(Brenda) of North Kingstown, RI. He is also survived by his brother Raymond of NC and was predeceased by his sister Jean Lawton of Canada. He leaves 7 grandchildren: Kristin McNulty, Brian McDonough, Geoffrey Smiley, Allison (Smiley) Stather, Scott Vaudreuil, Nick Vaudreuil and Lauren Vaudreuil. He also leaves 2 great grandchildren: Olivia and Thomas McNulty.

Gerald was a self employed mason contractor (Century Masonry, Inc,), for over 50 years. He very reluctantly agreed to close the business at age 89.  Gerald was born and raised in Swansea and graduated from Joseph Case High School in 1947.  His favorite subject was football . When his football team was inducted into the Case High Hall of Fame he represented the team as it’s captain and proceeded to give a detailed recount of every game they played that year, (60 years prior).  His memory was something we all envied and wished we had inherited, but didn’t.

The same tenacity that he displayed on the football field was evident throughout his life as he survived several accidents.  He lived independently until the day he died and wouldn’t want it any other way.

Unfortunately, due to Covid we will not be having any services at this time. The family plans to have a Celebration of Life next summer when it’s safe to do so.
