Germaine "Gerri" Shoesmith, 81, wife of the late Stephen Shoesmith died on July 18, 2024 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born December 20, 1942 to the late Leonidas Aime St. Laurent and Yvonne Alice St. Laurent (Gagnon) of Fall River MA. Later taking residences in Westport MA, Swansea MA and North Providence RI.
Gerri was the oldest of nine children whom she often referred to as her kids, as they brought her much joy while growing up. Her siblings include the late Maurice St. Laurent, Leon St. Laurent, Corinne Irving, Roger St. Laurent, the late Raymond St. Laurent, Lillian St. Laurent, Diane Price and Michael St. Laurent. She also leaves behind her siblings spouses and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her only child, "the joy of her life", Karen Elderkin, her husband Joshua Elderkin and precious granddaughter Sophia Elderkin.
Gerri enjoyed working with her hands whether it be for arts and crafts or her career as a clock maker alongside two of her sisters, which made it all the more fun for her. She enjoyed vacationing in New Hampshire with her husband and daughter. She enjoyed taking rides with her husband on their motorcycle, boat trips or a ride in their canoe while camping. She was always up for her husband's adventures. A lover of animals, she had multiple pets through the years. Most notable her beloved German Shepard "Lady" and her Maltise Poodle mix "Bridgit".
Germaine had a great faith in the Lord and often said she was "coasting with God". Her sweet, kind, gentle spirit along with her laughter and joy with be greatly missed by those who loved her.
