Harold I. Dyer

Harold I Dyer, 84 of Hartford, CT, passed away on February 8, 2024. Born March 16, 1939 to Howard Dyer and Amelia (Heyward) Dyer also of Hartford.

After graduating from high school, Harold worked for many years as a landscaper at Newington Children’s Hospital in Newington, CT. This is where he met his wife, Gale of 37 years.

Harold was fond of listening to all genres of music, including Madonna, Michael Jackson, The Beatles and The Allman Brothers. He also enjoyed watching movies and TV shows. His favorites being Pawn Stars, Coin Collector, Mecum Auto Auction and WWE.

Harold owned an extensive coin and paperweight collection that he would show-off to friends and family whenever he had the chance. Harold and Gale enjoyed taking day trips to Mystic and overnights to Gloucester, MA. Harold’s true passion, however, was gardening. He spent countless hours maintaining his immaculately landscaped property in West Hartford, CT where he lived until moving to Rhode Island in 2017 to be closer to his daughter, Jen and Granddaughter, Reagan. Anyone who knew Harold would attest to how much of a “jokester” he could be and how much of a sweet tooth he had. No conversation went without one of his wisecracks and no day was complete without a scoop of peanut butter and chocolate ice cream or a hot fudge sundae from Friendly’s.

Besides his wife, daughter and granddaughter, Harold leaves his sister, Eleanor Hamilton of Billerica, MA. His nephews, David and Larry Pellerino, nieces Lynn Loicano and Sue Thiele and his son-in-law Andrew. Harold was predeceased by his sister, Janice Pellerino.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St, East Greenwich. A gathering will be held immediately after at the family’s home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association Rhode Island Chapter in Harold’s memory.
