Herchell J. Talan

Herchell Jack Talan of East Greenwich, Rhode Island passed away on October 10, 2023. He was the faithful, devoted and loving husband of Patricia Post Talan. Born August 10, 1936 in Providence, RI he was a son of the late Israel and Bessie (Gerstenblatt) Talan. He was the loving father of Andrew Talan (Rhonda) and Laurel Scapicchio. He was the loving brother of Shirley Talan Karp (Carl) and the grandfather of Lindsey Scapicchio McGuinness (Ken).

He was a graduate of Hope High School in Providence. He attended Rhode Island Radio, New England Technical Institute and CCRI. He served in the RIANG 102nd AC&W Squadron, 143rd Airlift Wing, Sampson AFB and Scott AFB.

He was the owner of HJT Services from 1987 to 2017; Herch’s Auto Parts from 1974 to 1985; manager of Greenwich Auto Parts from 1956 to 1974. He was a member of Harmony Lodge No. 9, F&AM; Past Master Rhodes Lodge #44 F&AM and Scottish Rite Valley of Providence.

Funeral service Thursday October 12th at 11:00 am at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. Burial with military honors will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army www.give.salvationarmyusa.org
