James M. Alexander, 56, passed away on January 4th, 2024 at Berkshire Place hospice center.
James was the son of late Bernard T. Alexander Jr and Carol Ann Alexander. He was a loving father, who did everything he could to help his loved ones. He never stopped looking for work, even during his toughest times. He worked as a machinist at many different companies throughout his life. He grew up in Smithfield, RI and moved throughout the state, spent some years in NH, moved down to Florida to be closer to his mother for a time, and then finally returned to RI to be closer to his two sons.
James had a very rock n' roll, live your best life personality. He loved music and he was very talented with the guitar, he briefly formed a band called "Cruel Shoes," and he could jam away for hours. He lit up whenever someone asked him to play something. James also had a strong passion for sports, a big fan of the Patriots, the Bruins, and the Red Sox. He did his best to never miss a game. Anyone who met him would also know he loved food, always willing to try new things and cook for people. Big meals were his favorite part of the day.
James is survived and missed by ex-wife Kellie Scawthorn and their two sons, Alexander Scawthorn and Devin Scawthorn, and their granddaughter Rylee Scawthorn. As well as his sister Elizabeth Roderigues, and his two brothers, Tom Alexander and Paul Alexander.
There will be a memorial service on Sunday, January 21st, 2024 from 12pm-2pm at J.F. Skeffington Funeral Home & Cremations, 925 Chalkstone Avenue, Providence.
