Jean A. York

Jean A. York, 81, of Coventry, passed away March 14, 2016 at Coventry Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Rev. Lester E. York. Born in Providence she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Florida (Plante) West.

Mrs. York had worked as a shipping clerk and inspector for the former Grosse` Jewelry Company and as an inspector for Peacedale Dye works. She was an avid jig saw puzzle enthusiast.

She is survived by her children: Valerie J. Dreyer and her husband Jerry Barlow, Cheryl A. Carson and her husband Richard and James M. Richards and his companion Gayle Reid; siblings: Florence Scott, Ralph West, Robert West and Rena Gillissie; grandchildren: Jason, Michael, Johnny, Mark, Derek, Christina and Bryan and great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Deborah S. Richardson and the sister of the late Charlotte Horan, Herbert West and Dorothy Leonard.

A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated Sunday, March 20th at 1:30PM at St. Barnabas Church, Post Rd., Warwick. Burial will be private. Those who wish may make donations to VNA of Care New England, 51 Health Lane, Warwick, RI 02886
