Jeanne (Sherry) O'Neill

Jeanne (Sherry) O’Neill of Seekonk, MA passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026 comforted by the presence of her family. She was born on February 15, 1951 to Jeanne (Mulligan) Sherry and Karl Sherry. She is survived by three siblings Barbara Skeffington, Carol Turnier, and Karl Sherry and is reunited in rest with her late sister, Janet Shea.

Born and raised in Pawtucket, RI, Jeanne attended Mount St. Joseph’s College and Salve Regina University where she studied Early Childhood Education and shaped the young minds of Rhode Islanders as an elementary educator for over two decades. After her retirement, she dedicated her time and generosity to supporting local organizations through both philanthropy and volunteer service. She was actively involved in the performing arts programs at St. Margaret School and Portsmouth Abbey School, served on the Parents Council at Bishop Hendricken High School, and led the auction committee for The Legend's Ball benefiting the Hockomock Area YMCA. These were among the many causes she believed strengthened and enriched the community she was proud to call home.

Jeanne is survived by her husband, Timothy O’Neill. They were married in April of 1980 and built a beautiful life in Seekonk, MA, where they raised two sons, Patrick (David Elder) of New York, NY and Corey (Caitlin O’Neill) of Bronxville, NY. They also cherished the many years they spent at their residence in New York City and at their home in Charlestown, RI, where they created countless treasured memories with family and friends. Jeanne’s greatest joy in life was her granddaughters Emily, Alice, and Madeline, and her memory will live on through them.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 2 at St. Margaret Church in Rumford, RI at 11 o’clock in the morning. A private burial service will be held for the family at a later date. In accordance with family wishes, no calling hours or viewing will be held.
