Jeannine (Maynard) Anderson, age 83, of Warwick, RI, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, surrounded by family. Born April 15, 1942, in Fall River, MA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Corinne Maynard. Jeannine was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest “Andy” Anderson and two sisters; Muriel Giorgio and Marcelle Howard.
Jeannine packed a lot of living into her 83 years. She married Andy in 1962 and started what they thought would be a long life together. She began teaching flower arranging with a friend in her basement which sparked the idea that she could turn it into a business. She opened Busy Bee Florist in East Greenwich in 1978. Not long after, life threw her a major curveball and she suddenly became a widow with four young children.
Among the many things she did in her 30 years as a florist, Jeannine was an FTD Certified Master Designer and served on the Board of Directors for New England Teleflora. When she wasn’t in her flower shop, Jeannine was giving her time and talents all over town. She was constantly volunteering, especially at times when no one else would. After retiring and no longer in need of her large home, she moved to Warwick and lived across the street from one of her children. There she would host family dinners, teach painting to her grandchildren, and propagate a new beautiful yard full of perennials. She took on the responsibility of coordinating the upkeep of Avalon Park, just a short walk from her front steps. There she planted trees and offered many varieties of flowers from her yard. She was often seen walking back from the park with gardening gloves and a bucket.
Jeannine was an active member of the East Greenwich Art Club for decades, serving as its president for several years and was honored with a lifetime EGAC membership in 2024. She also taught painting at the East Greenwich Senior Center.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Lizbeth (Flanagan) Anderson; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Michelle (Anderson) and Donald Gustafson of Warwick, Monique (Anderson) and Daniel Lukash of Rockville, MD, and Nicole Anderson of Providence. Her legacy continues in her six cherished grandchildren: Emma, Alexander, Jenna, Mia, Camille, and Kevin - all who inherited her creativity.
She leaves behind many dear friends and extended family members, who will deeply miss her sense of humor, her artistic flair, her relentless optimism, and her unwavering commitment to show up when needed.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, RI. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to plant something, paint something, or sign up for that class you’ve been putting off. Donations in Jeannine’s name can be sent to the East Greenwich Art Club, PO Box 1608, East Greenwich, RI 02818 or to the RI Community Food Bank 200 Niantic Ave, Providence, RI 02907.
