Jennifer L. Cinq-Mars

Jen was a native Kansan who moved to Rhode Island at the age of nineteen. For the past thirty years Rhode Island has been her beloved home.

Before Jennifer’s illness, she worked at the East Greenwich Yacht Club, New England Yacht Rigging, and Job Site Equipment Corporation as an office manager, bookkeeper and personal assistant respectively.
She loved everything about the ocean, whether at the beach, collecting sea shells and sea glass, swimming or traveling to the islands. Jen and her husband John, members of the East Greenwich Yacht Club, often went sailing in their 27 foot Catalina sailboat, “Knot-A-Clew.”

Jen’s sense of adventure was legendary, going to new places and meeting new friends. She never met a stranger. She enjoyed dressing up and socializing, enjoying good food and fine wine. Jen enjoyed music concerts: she loved Rush, Led Zeppelin and lately a local band “The Silks”. “The Wood Brothers” song “Give It One More Day” exemplified her attitude towards her illness. (lyrics: https://genius.com/The-wood-brothers-one-more-day-lyrics). At any opportunity and no matter what the distance she would go to hear “The Wood Brothers;” it was the music of her soul. She especially loved the sound of bagpipes and insisted that they be present on her 40th birthday party and they were. She hadn’t missed a single opportunity to go to the annual St. Patrick parade.

During her nine year struggle with cancer, being initially diagnosed at Stage IV, she never complained and always had a positive attitude. She told her doctors, “Just tell me what to do and I’ll do it.” She insisted that there always be a plan “b.” She participated in many clinical trials at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and was informed just last week by her Oncologist, Dr. Mary Lopresti, DO, that one of the trials she participated in is now a mainstream treatment for breast cancer.

Her motto was “Be Happy, Live for today,” and above all … “Make every moment count.”

Jen was lovingly cared for by her husband, John and sweet little dog Zoey and many friends, but most of all, the marvelous staff of the Fain Comprehensive Medical Center and The Miriam Hospital. During her final day, she was attended by her husband, parents and special friends and the loving staff of Philip Hulitar Hospice Center where she passed peacefully.

She was a wonderful daughter, wife, and friend. Jen was the only child of Leon G. and Karin (Davidson) Jackson, who reside in Leavenworth, Kansas.

From those she left behind, we only say:
“Though absent she is ever near,
Still loved, much missed, and always dear.”

A “Celebration of Life” will be held at the East Greenwich Yacht Club, located on 10 Water St, East Greenwich, RI 02818, on Friday June 2, 2017 between the hours of 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm – all are welcome.

Ecclesiastes 8:15 (posted on Jen’s office door)
So I recommend having fun, because there is nothing better for people in this world than to eat, drink, and enjoy life. That way they will experience some happiness along with all the hard work God gives them under the sun.
