Jennifer L. Liston

Jennifer Lee Liston, 52, of Fredericksburg, VA passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at home with her husband, son, and dog, Murphy, at her side. Born in Rhode Island she was the daughter of William Degnan and the late Nancy A. (Perrone) Degnan and the step daughter of Honi Ann Degnan.

Jen was raised in Rhode Island and graduated in 1996 from Rhode Island College with a degree in Education. Always on the move as a Marine wife, she was devoted to her husband, Mark, for 28 years. Regardless of their state or country of residence, Jen always made a home for Mark and their son, Zachary. Upon her return from Asia, she completed a Master’s degree in School Counseling and reentered the workforce at Parkside Elementary School, where she applied her sparking personality and positive attitude in helping young people and enjoyed being part of a new, rewarding community.

Jennifer was a burst of positive energy that was infectious. She loved spending time with family and friends and making the most out of whatever the situation was.

Jennifer carried the same sense of selflessness and bravery which defined her life into her battle with cancer, refusing to be defined by it.

Jen is survived by her husband, Mark; and son Zachary and his lovely wife, Sophia. Zak is currently serving with the United States Army in Texas. She is also survived by a brother Robert W. Degnan, her Aunt Kathleen Perrone, niece Anais Degnan and her mother-in-law Judith Liston. She was the daughter-in-law of the late Edward J. Liston.

Committal prayers will be held on Tuesday November 14th at 11:00 am in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, RI. Calling hours: Monday November 13th from 5-7 pm. in the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich, RI.
