Jerome Edwards, 70 of Providence, RI passed away peacefully on December 10th, 2023. Born in Providence, RI on March 5, 1953 to his late parents Dennis and Adelaide Edwards. He was preceded in death by his wife Karen Edwards (DiRuzzo); son, Richard DiRuzzo, Sr.; and siblings Anita Bibbs, Dennis Edwards, Vernon Edwards, Diane Edwards, Lillian Edwards, Elaine Edwards, and Theodore Edwards.
He is survived by his daughters Randy DiRuzzo and Rebecca DiRuzzo and son-in-law Stephen DeBlois; grandchildren Richard DiRuzzo, Jr., Robert DiRuzzo, and Benjamin DeBlois; and 15 nieces and nephews.
He was a graduate of East Providence High School and New England Tech. He went on to be a toolmaker with Hasbro for 25 years. He was also a skating dinosaur at United Skates. He loved fishing, boating and waterskiing with his late wife, family and friends. Jerome was a family man, who enjoyed spending time with his children, nieces, and nephews, and later his grandchildren. He welcomed everyone into his home, providing a supportive environment to all who needed one. Despite ailing health in his later years, he could be found strolling the aisles at Shaw's, chatting with neighbors on his front steps, doing Sudoku, cooking and gardening.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 16th from 11:00 - 12:30 at the J.F. Skeffington Funeral Home, 925 Chalkstone Ave., Providence, RI. A private burial will be held at a later date.
