John Acton, Iii

John Acton III, 77, of East Greenwich, passed away on January 1, 2019 of a heart attack.

John was born in Pawtucket, RI, the son of the late John and Margaret (Meehan) Acton. He graduated Pawtucket West High School in 1960 before serving time as a Navy submariner. He was a licensed electrician for many years and retired in 2000 from the R&D department at Stanley Bostitch, East Greenwich. John was an avid boater and world traveler. He was an honorable man of traditional values and enjoyed sharing his wealth of knowledge with those he met. John was a proud New Englander with strong RI roots. He touched the lives of so many and leaves behind a long list of loved ones. Most notably, he is survived by his wife of 27 years, Patricia H. (Taylor) Acton.

Burial with military honors will be Monday, January 7 th at 1:30pm at RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.  Calling hours:  Sunday, January 6 th 2:00-4:00pm at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich.  Followed by a Celebration of Life.  In lieu of flowers donations should be made to Cancer Research Institute https://www.cancerresearch.org/join-the-cause/donate/one-time-donation.
