John J. Corrigan, 82, of East Greenwich, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday August 1, 2017 at Kent County Hospital. He was the beloved husband and widower of Patricia R. Corrigan (Mitchell). Born in Providence, he was the son of the late A. William Corrigan and Gertrude Corrigan (Leoffler).
John attended La Salle High School in Providence and graduated from Hope High School in 1954. He served in the United States Army. John managed Kingstown Bowl from its opening until 1971. He was a successful small business owner running JJ Corrigan’s Quaker Lane Liquors for 29 years before retiring in 2001. After retiring John work for various School Bus Companies in East Greenwich from 2001 until 2011.
He was a life time member of the East Greenwich Fireman’s Home and was a past President of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick in East Greenwich and was its 35th President. He was an usher at Our Lady of Mercy Church in the latter part of his life.
He is survived by his loving children, Michael Corrigan, Timothy Corrigan, of East Greenwich, Maryann Doran and her husband Bill of Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland, Maureen Migneault and her husband David of Coventry, and Daniel Corrigan of East Greenwich; cherished grandchildren, Diane Perretta, Joseph Doran, Alyssa DiChiara and her husband Chris, Dr. Erica Migneault and his brother Dennis Corrigan. John is survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Funeral Thursday August 10th at 9:00 am from the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St., East Greenwich. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, East Greenwich. Calling hours: Wednesday August 9th from 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Trudeau Center care of East Greenwich Veterans Fireman’s Association.
