71, of Providence, RI passed away on May 18, 2020 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Katherine (Doyle) Dumont for 49 years.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Irene (Arruda) and John Dumont.
In addition to his wife Kathy he leaves behind his son Brian, NYPD and his wife Caroline, (Cummins) of Patterson, NY and his much loved grandson Rylan Thomas to whom he was Pop-Pop.
He is survived by his siblings Bette McJunken of Florida and Robert Dumont of Lake Havasu City Arizona. He was predeceased by his sister Donna Silva. He was a loving uncle and friend to countless people.
John was employed by the US Postal Service for 39 years. He was a current employee at Twin River Casino. He coached Mt Pleasant and North Providence Little League for many years.
John was an avid Boston sports fan. His passion for sports and following teams was passed on to his son and grandson. The trips they were able to take together were memories that will last a lifetime. John attended World Series and Super Bowls. His stories about how he got to some of their games were legendary, and his humor will be sorely missed.
Services will be private due to COVID, but we invite all who loved John to share a laugh in his memory.
