John J. Finnegan, Jr.

John J. Finnegan Jr., 88 of Pawtucket passed away gently from this life on February 9, 2021. He was the husband of the late Theresa (Tremblay) Finnegan. Born in Providence he was the son of the late John J. Finnegan Sr. and Florence M. (Reed) Finnegan, the brother of the late Florence M. Rapoza and brother-in-law of Ernest Rapoza.

He is survived by six daughters; Christine Maini-Buchanan and husband James, Marjorie Goward and husband John, Colleen Gavrielides and husband Tony, Kathleen Finnegan, Christine Harrop and husband David and Colleen Perry-Smith. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; Brian Rector, Danny Moone, Nicole Cowman, Peter Stabile, Christy DiOrio, Corey Finnegan, Zoe Maini, Brigh Finnegan, Robert Costello, Kimberly Perry, Katie Cole, Kayla Perry, Kelly Harrop and Skye-Allison Harrop. In addition, there are 10 great grandchildren.

John was a friend of Bill W for 41 years.

John aka Jackie was a proud graduate of La Salle Academy and known for his quick wit and sense of humor.

Jack was extremely proud of his Irish heritage and was even referred to as Uncle Leprechaun by his nieces and nephews. A lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and Notre Dame and New England Patriots football teams (despite the departure of his favorite player Tom Brady). Dad had a lifelong love of music and had an extensive music collection.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 15 ^th at 11:00am at St. Francis de Sales Church, School St., North Kingstown. Burial will be private. Donations may be made in his name to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association and Alzheimer’s Association.
